Beat the Chill!


This unique one-mile walk/run event for health and/or competition will benefit the many programs and services that Healthy New Albany provides to individuals and families throughout Central Ohio and beyond. Healthy New Albany is a non-profit charitable organization dedicated to keeping families and communities healthy and is one of the most innovative and comprehensive health initiatives in the country!

What to know

  • For the health and safety of our participants, Healthy New Albany will adhere to the following guidelines:​​

    • Proof of COVID-19 vaccination and a valid photo ID must be shown when you come to pick up your packet at the Heit Center. If picking up packets for others, you must show their proof of vaccination and valid photo ID. Copies and photos of both will be accepted.

    • We will follow CDC guidelines for vaccination at the time of the event.

    • Masks must be worn while inside the Heit Center at all times.

    • Should circumstances beyond our control force us to cancel the event, we will ship your hat and bib to you.

    • No refunds will be issued if we must cancel the event due to circumstances beyond our control.


  • Due to the number of participants, we will distribute the chili, cornbread and hot chocolate on the outdoor patio of The Heit Center. Be sure to stop by the patio when you finish your mile to get your food.

100% of Race Proceeds will support the following Healthy New Albany initiatives:

  • Food pantry that serves 1000 local residents.

  • Farmers market that supports 45+ local farmers and provides fresh offerings to over 1000 residents and neighbors weekly throughout the summer.

  • Community garden that provides fresh, local produce to community members and food pantry clients.

  • Summer meals that serve 170 students in the New Albany Plain Local School District.

  • “I Am Thriving” cancer survivorship program that impacts women throughout Central Ohio.

  • Wellness programs for seniors through Healthy New Albany’s Senior Connections program.

  • After-school nature programs for children that provide educational activities in nature!

  • English Language Learning (ELL) programs that have assisted 45 food pantry clients in learning English, a path to self-sufficiency.

  • Lunch & Learn events that address critical public health issues and provide resources on topics such as diversity and mental health.

  • Integrative wellness programs for people of all ages including meditation, Tai Chi, and yoga.

  • Race events that help keep thousands of individuals healthy through physical activity.

  • ….and that’s just to name some!!
